About This Course

This 39-video educational program is designed to help individuals become familiar with some of the core elements in creating, designing, and remediating documents to be usable accessible. The content includes guidance on how to utilize the tools in Microsoft and Adobe product suites, but can be transferred to many other document creation suites and tools. Including best practices from WCAG and PDF/UA. By participating in this program, you have the opportunity to create a strong understanding of document accessibility and to improve on your existing knowledge. This course is not designed to be a complete learning package or to be an IAAP ADS Certification preparation course.

Please Note: Course content is currently being reviewed to ensure that any/all keyboard alternatives for completing various tasks are included. If keyboard commands are found to be lacking they will be added to modules as an extra unit. We will notify everyone in the course when these units have been added.

Course Contributors

Dax Castro, ADS has more than 25 years of professional online and traditional marketing, brand awareness, print/web design, multimedia experience and online business consulting has helped him hone the skills needed to be successful in today's marketing arena.

Chad Chelius is a trainer, author, consultant, and speaker residing in the Philadelphia area. He’s been using Adobe products for over 25 years and began his career in the design and publishing industry. As an Adobe Certified Instructor, Accessible Document Specialist, and consultant, he teaches and advises on all Adobe print and web products, specializing in InDesign and InCopy workflows, Illustrator, and PDF accessibility using Adobe Acrobat.

IAAP Program Assistant

Sam Sundermann joined IAAP in June of 2020 in the role of Program Assistant and is responsible for the Educational Training Database/Speakers Bureau, the Learning Management System, and coordinating social media content. She has helped in many departments of IAAP working on new initiatives and assisting with certification. Sam has a love for travel and has worked in many industries around the world. She enjoys learning new skills and is looking forward to ongoing professional development in her role with the IAAP team.

What is the cost of the course?

This course is $195 USD. Purchasing or being enrolled in the course gives you access for one year. If you qualify for the Emerging and Developing Economies discount, or are an IAAP Member eligible for free enrollment please contact iaapsupport@accessibilityassociation.org. All requests will be processed on Tuesday and Fridays.
If you are an IAAP member you will receive an enrollment email from Edunext. Select the link in this email to access the course. If you have not already done so, you will need to make an EduNext account. Your IAAP credentails will not work on this site. If you enroll in the course prior to receiving your enrollment notification, no refund will be given. You will remain enrolled for 1 year or until your IAAP membership is no longer active.
This course is not a prep course for any IAAP Certification exam and the course fee does not cover the cost to sit for any IAAP Certification Exam.

Do IAAP Members need to pay for the course?

No, the course is free for IAAP Members. Please contact iaapsupport@accessibilityassociation.org to be enrolled. If you enroll in the course prior to receiving your email from EduNext, no refund will be given. All IAAP members will only be enrolled once.
Each IAAP member is eligible to take the course once. The course can not be reset, but learners are welcome to review the material as many times as they like while enrolled.

Will I be ready to take the Accesible Document Specialist (ADS) Certification Exam after completing this course?

This is not an IAAP ADS Exam Prep course. You should review the IAAP Prepare for ADS to review the Body of Knowledge and plan your study path.

How do I apply for the IAAP ADS Exam?

View our Prepare for ADS webpage for more information on how to prepare for your exam. When you are ready to take the ADS Exam, please visit the IAAP Exam Dates webpage for exam session dates and information on when application forms open.

How long will the course take to complete?

The course is self-paced, providing you with the flexibility to learn at your own pace, on your own schedule. The course will take about 8 hours to complete start to finish. All learners have access to the course material for 1 year from their enrollment or purchase date.
Please note: All knowledge checks can only be taken once. The course can not be reset, but learners are welcome to review the material as many times as they like while enrolled.

Is this course eligible for IAAP Continuing Accessibility Education Credits (CAECs)?

Yes, if you currently hold the CPACC or ADS IAAP Certification this course could be used to earn up to 8 CAECs. You must pass with an overall grade of 80% to be eligible for a Certificate of Completion to use to request CAECs. If you complete this course prior to sitting for your exam, CAECs will not be awarded.

Will I receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the course?

Please contact iaapsupport@accessibilityassociation.org upon successful completion of the course and we will issue a PDF certificate with 4 weeks of your request. An overall grade of 80% is needed for successful completion of the course.
